    • The vast majority of new firms go through a similar start-up process.  The firms most likely to be successful follow a four-step process, shown in Figure 1.1.
    • The Entrepreneurial Process: Feel à Check à Plan à Do
      • Feel:  Having a feeling about starting a business or making a particular product or service.
      • Check:  Smart entrepreneurs check the likelihood for success through a feasibility analysis or customer development process, repeating until you reach a winning and feasible idea.
      • Plan:  Getting from the idea to the business can be done by small-scale, part-time startups, lean business practices approaches, pilot testing, business modeling, or doing a business plan.
      • Do:  Regardless of the planning approach you choose, you will need to refine your approach until you have a successful firm, including additional rounds of refinement and revising.
    ENTREPRENEURS ARE EVERYWHERE
    • According to the U.S. census there were 15.5 million full-time entrepreneurs in the United States in 2015.
      • Entrepreneurs can be found in almost every occupation.
